KI2026 was the 49th German Conference on Artificial Intelligence organized in cooperation with the Fachbereich Künstliche Intelligenz der Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI-SIG AI). The German AI Conference basically started approx. 50 years ago with the first GI-SIG AI meeting on Oct. 7, 1975 (see the archive of GI-SIG AI).
KI is one of the major European AI conferences and traditionally brings together academic and industrial researchers from all areas of AI, providing an ideal place for exchanging news and research results on theory and applications. KI2026 was prelocated to IJCAI 2026, which takes place in Bremen the week after on August 15–21.
The conference program is densely packed with highlights (see also our venue and social event site). We were delighted to welcome our four renowned keynote speakers who gave insights into recent topics in AI from within the community. Thanks to all participants for the active and fruitful networking and discussions, and we hope everyone enjoyed seeing Bremen from new perspectives. Our highlights included:
- a special Industry Day at the prestigious Schuetting building - home of Bremens Chamber of Commerce
- the main conference was at the Robotics Innovation Center of DFKI in Bremen, where we offered a tour through the infrastructure
- Conference Dinner in the excellent CANOVA restaurant which is directly situated in the old ancient "Bremen Wall"
- a very special Social Event: KI is going on Ship - we cruised the river Weser along the city, and on ship discussed the KI 2026 posters, listened to the incredible band Danube's Banks and watched the city floating by outside
- a sightseeing tour in Bremen
